Esperanza Arts Center (EAC) is Greater Philadelphia’s regional hub for Latinx arts and culture. EAC’s mission is to touch the lives of, and foster positive social change in, the Latin community through the arts. Located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Hispanic neighborhoods, EAC hosts Philadelphia’s premiere musical, dance, and theater companies, as well as top performers from Latin America and cinema presentations addressing Latinx themes. The 2024-25 season features new productions, new partnerships and world commissions – read on!
The season opened with a sold-out run of the world premiere of Nichos, a multidisciplinary theatrical piece by Tanaquil Márquez, Ximena Violante, and Calo Rosa, running October 17-27. Nichos traced the evolution of Mexican culture over 500 years of history through theater, music, and visual art.
Keila Cordova, a celebrated Afro-Panamanian choreographer and storyteller, is EAC’s 2024/2025 Artist-in- Residence, and will present a new multidisciplinary work this March, in collaboration with Panamanian composer Emiliano Pardo-Tristán.
For our 2024-25 VOCES Series, EAC will spotlight artists and traditions of the African Diaspora in Latin America. Programs will feature new productions in partnership with Philadanco, Ologunde, Philadelphia Ballet, Astral Artists, and the American Composers Orchestra.
