MFS: Winter Reception
The Musical Fund Society invites you to a free pre-concert reception at the American Philosophical Society on Tuesday, December 3rd!
Join us from 6:30pm – 7:15pm for member mingling, tasty treats and a toast to celebrate the season, followed by a performance at 7:30pm by classical saxophonist Valentin Kovalev, winner of the 2023 Musical Fund Society Career Advancement Award. Known as one of the leaders of his generation in developing the musical and technical possibilities of the saxophone, he offers a program that juxtaposes classical works with contemporary music from Spain, Turkey, and Japan.
Program includes works by Schumann, Franck, Debussy, Iturralde, Yoshimatsu, and Say

Join us on May 20, 2024 at the American Philosophical Society’s Benjamin Franklin Hall for our annual Spring Celebration!
Each spring, we present a festive evening of food, wine and fun with friends as we announce the winners of major awards given by the Musical Fund Society, including the Career Advancement Award, for an emerging young performing artist of exceptional talent and promise, and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an individual whose work represents a significant contribution to the rich cultural life and vibrant musical community in the city of Philadelphia.
